For new professionals and growing companies in building, permitting, general contracting and home building
Why People Hire Consultants
There are three main reasons people decide to bring in outside advice:
They are simply unable to figure it out or get to their desired state on their own.
They have a general idea, but they want to get there faster.
They want to save time and effort by following an efficient, proven system
1. They can’t get there on their own.
Someone might have their current situation and they might have their desired situation, and they have already tried very hard to get there on their own, but it’s just not working out.
Let’s say they are trying to start a company and just can't break even. They tried to get organizedand run the jobs better.
They tried and they failed, but they know it’s possible and they know other people have done it, and they just need to find that missing link.
2. They want to get there faster.
People want to achieve things as quickly as possible. Really smart people also understand specialization, and that if they try to learn something from scratch, they are going to learn it significantly more slowly than having an expert teach it to them.
If I'm trying to do my first new build home, I’m going to make mistakes and do things inefficiently, slowing down my progress and increasing the time it takes to reach my goals. That’s an unavoidable reality as someone with no experience.
But I’m not the only person on the planet. There are other people who have built successful businesses before, made the mistakes I will likely make, and learned how to do things efficiently. With their help, I can skip a lot of the biggest potholes and get to my desired state much faster.
3. They want a proven system to reach their goal.
Some people simply don’t have time to guess or experiment. They want results and they want them now, and they know the ONLY way to achieve maximum efficiency is to follow a proven system from someone who has already accomplished exactly what they wish to accomplish.
Want to have full-time income in six months? Well, I’m going to go find someone who gained full-time income in six months and I am going to follow what they did.
Want to build a 6-figure business? Well, I’m going to go find someone who built a 6-figure business and follow what they did.
This desire for a proven system from someone like CTS who has “been there, done that” has created hundreds of highly successful businesses
How We Work
Most of our clients use a mix and match method that fits their personality, schedule, and project. We are very flexible. We charge a down payment and work in deliverable deadline draw payments so you can cancel your project at any time. We will turn your materials over to you and refund any unused funds if you need a break or other things in life come up.
The first delivery method is done-for-you.
This is when we actually deliver the services ourselves. If we are helping you get through permitting we draw the plans and fill out the forms for you. We set up the accounts and manage the engineers and revisions. We are delivering a turnkey service for you.
This is the first stage of consulting, and it’s the most labor-intensive. You can either do the work yourself, which is the most time-consuming, or you can outsource it to us, which tends to return the highest margins and work quality.
This is priced by the project with a time estimate. Drafting is $1.20sf. including room layout, plans, and elevations for permitting. Interior design is $120hr.
The second delivery method is done-with-you.
This is when CTS does some of the work and you do some of the work. You're kind of dividing it up. You're saying, "Hey look, you're going to be doing this stuff. I'm going to be doing this stuff." This is a different way of delivering services. You might say, "CTS, You're going to come up with all of the permit designs and forms and we will do the online submissions."
This can be priced hourly or by the project with a time estimate. For example, an online permitting submittal takes 3 hours and is $360. If we manage all the engineers for you, check their work, make corrections, and do the submissions process and it takes us 15 hours it is $1,800. Zoning, codes, amendments, setbacks, easements, and all other research for your project is also available. We work in the DFW metroplex but do work further out on some projects.
The third delivery method is 1-on-1 consulting.
You can visit in person, sitting down, or email and Zoom. This is a look at your project and business on a personal level giving you the results at your pace. We go over things for you to try and you go off and try them yourself.
With 1-on-1 consulting, we are not actually doing any of the work. We are your advisor. We are here solely for advice and attention. We are simply advising them on what work they're going to do and then they do it.
Consulting is $120 an hour. Most clients take 2-6 hours of consulting to get them going. You pay as you go and can cancel at any time.
The fourth delivery method is group coaching.
This is advising a group of clients on what to do at the same time. Instead of doing it 1-on-1, we can do it in groups. You sign up 5 or 20 people or more, have them all in one group, and then have calls. You can have a call every week and all these people could jump on this call and ask different questions. It is like a group of people being coached at the same time.
This method retains many of the benefits of 1-on-1 coaching while allowing you to have more of your team involved at any given time. It works best in start-up situations, or boot camp type learning and not high-complexity coaching engagements. It is particularly effective after you have established your policies and procedures through 1-on-1 consulting or for investing group meetings.
Group sessions of 5 or more in training are half-day (4 hours) $720 and full-day (8 hours) $1,200. Your choice of topics to cover.
Which method is right for you?
When it comes to scaling, the right delivery method is really going to depend on your preferred business model, with each one having various upsides and downsides.
If you really like the done-for-you approach, you can get high quality and move fast. On the flip side, however, if you don't want a turnkey service you can meet 1-on1 and get direction. Then you do the work. And there is the hybrid where you do some of the work and we do some of the work.
If you have teams to train you can cover large specific material for your company and everyone is on the same page when it comes to your company policy.
Whatever your choice, CTS has you covered.
